The weather is generally too gloomy across the country due to the influence of the monsoon, with rain falling in most parts of the country.
According to the Meteorological Forecasting Unit of the Ministry of Hydrology and Meteorology, light to moderate rains are occurring in parts of Province 1, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini as a low-pressure monsoon system is now located slightly south of Nepal.
Barun Pudel, a senior meteorologist with the unit, said it has been raining in the hilly areas since last night and the Tarai region is also affected by the monsoon. Rain is expected to fall in the region today.
Poudel said the rains are expected to be active during the week, with rainfall expected to continue until next Friday. Rain is more likely in the morning and evening, with some clear skies in the afternoon.
According to the agency’s weather bulletin for the next three days, the weather will be mainly cloudy across the country. Light to moderate rain is likely in some parts of the country tonight, while heavy rain with thunder and lightning is possible in Bagmati, Gandaki and one or two places in Lumbini province.
Light to moderate rain is still possible in many places on Tuesday, with overly cloudy conditions prevailing across the country.
Heavy rains with thunderstorms are expected in some places of Province 1, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurbashimi. The same weather system may continue into the night. Severe thunderstorm showers are possible in several places in Province 1, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Karnali, while full cloud coverage is usual in most parts of the country.
